Getting
to San Felipe |
|
Getting to the OLD border crossing at Mexicali Begin your trip by:
|
|
Go through the border and bear right as you enter Mexico (going left takes you to the airport). Stay on this road through Mexicali and follow the signs to San Felipe. After about 6 miles, this road becomes Highway 5 which goes directly to San Felipe. Note: The road is 3 lanes going through central Mexicali. We recommend staying in the middle lane. Mexicali is very busy with traffic constantly pulling out from the curbs on the right, and traffic passing you on the left. |

Getting through Mexicali from the NEW border crossing and onto Highway 5 Mex south
Note: The road is 3 lanes going through central Mexicali. We recommend staying in the middle lane. Mexicali is very busy with traffic constantly pulling out from the curbs on the right, and traffic passing you on the left. |

Highway 5 south to San Felipe
Note: Mexicali to San Felipe is 121 miles, about a 2 hour drive. There are military check-points (manned by the Mexican military and backed by the U.S. government) between the border and Puertecitos set up specifically to check for firearms, ammunition, explosives and illegal drugs. The number of these check-points varies but there is almost always one where Highway 3 to Ensenada intersects Highway 5, about 90 miles south of Mexicali. Our recommendation at military check-points is to be friendly and cooperative and remember that Americans are guests in Mexico. |

The Property is located in Campo San Pedro, at km. 34. It is about 28 miles south of San Felipe. It is just north of Campo El Vergel and south of Campo La Roca, near the Colonia Delicias. There is an abandoned Tecate Bar on the right side of the road about 100 yards before the turn off for Campo San Pedro. The sign indicating the name of Campo San Pedro is set back about 200 ft. from the main road on the left. Turn east (left) onto the dirt road leading to Campo San Pedro. Proceed to a fork in the road and veer right. You'll see the property surrounded by 8 ft. high ladrillo brick walls and a wooden entry gate. Note: There is another Campo San Pedro farther south, just south of Campo Christina. This is not where the property is located! |

While you won't always be asked, you are required to have proof of citizenship to enter Mexico. Make sure you have Mexican auto insurance before entering Mexico. Oscar Padilla, DriveMex, and MexACan provide Mexican auto insurance where you can buy and print your policy on-line. You're allowed to bring a liter of alcohol into Mexico. When crossing into Mexico, DO NOT bring firearms, ammunition, explosives or illegal drugs. You're risking a long prison sentence if you do. |

Go around the traffic circle and take the 3rd road (you'll be heading west). This turns into Highway 5 north to Mexicali. You know you're on the right road when you come to the San Felipe Arches, about a mile and a half after the traffic circle. |
